Did You Know That…
Albert Anastasia was sentenced to death in the electric chair at Sing Sing Prison back in 1921?
On March 17th 1921, Anastasia was convicted of murdering longshoreman George Turino and as a result he was sentenced to death and sent to Sing Sing to await execution.
However, due to a legal technicality he actually won a retrial the year after in 1922. During the interim period of Albert Anastasia avoiding the death penalty and being granted a retrial four of the original prosecution witnesses had disappeared!
Anastasia would become a free man.
