On this day in 1880. the early New Orleans gambler, politician, illegal casino owner and businessman Rudy T. O’Dwyer is born. Along with brother George they ran some of the early gambling joints in the area including; The Old Southport Club, O’Dwyers and Club Forest. Apparently they were muscled out of the business at some point by Carlos Marcello.
